DIGI R.A.P.!

So yeah! I was given a chance to work for DIGI! Yes, really!!! Hahahahahaha. Yea, I know it's a bit perasan. Sorry, haha. But yea, glory to God. This is DIGI R.A.P. Northern Regional finals, 25th April 2009.

Well. What is R.A.P.? From the website
R.A.P. is a DiGi initiative to encourage proper English usage amongst primary school children. R.A.P. is targeted at encouraging students in Standard 4, 5, and 6 to read and express themselves in English through stage plays.
Yeah, went over to SJK(C) Yuk Choi (they were using the hall for the event) on Friday right from CF, to help out for the rehearsals. Was handling food, due to just-adequate manpower. It's kinda fun dealing with the kids, they're blur a bit, and very kwai, is it. Uh, good boy good girl kinda thing. Easy to deal with lol.

Lessee. Handed out Gardenia buns, some yogurt carton drinks, The Chicken Rice Shop (TCRS) chicken rice, and DiGi water bottles! Lol. The last one is so cool, I have one just for collection. Haha. Yea, managed to catch the rehearsals too. For primary school kids, they're really impressive man. The best actors can actually win awards when pitted against my school team even, I bet. Even got to see my old primary school, SK Cator Avenue in action! They had one of the most impressive actors also! Haha. He had really good facial expressions, and wasn't afraid to interact with the audience.

Yea, and I got to eat chicken rice for TCRS.  Wasn't bad. I dislike the veggie though.

On the real day! Went to Yuk Choi @ 8. Briefing was @ 8.30, by Lion Simon. He's a strict one. Got chosen to handle backstage. Yeah. Was fun doing backstage, IMO. We had to help:

  • Set up props
  • Usher/prep contestants
  • Remove props
  • Shoo contestants after their play is over
  • Help carry up new props
And the last one. Set up mikes/headsets, the key task. Cus the kids are still young, so we can't let them do it themselves, the headsets aren't that cheap ya know. Yea, the mikes and headsets are the same thing. It's something like headphones without the speakers, just a mike. And it's supposed to be fitted on the ears. And yea, we have to make sure it can't/won't fall off, whether by taping them to the contestants or whatnot. And we have to be on our toes, cause sometimes we have to change mikes during scenes. Haha.

Anyway. I was with Carl. Lol. Yea, we did, or mostly, he did a lot of ding dong-worthy stuff. Such as. Lip-syncing horribly. LOL!!! And yea, we disturbed some of the contestants while they were waiting up for their scene. Hahaha. And even got to chat with Lion Baki Zainal.

Cheong - "You're so handsome today, Baki."
Baki - "Yeah, thank you very much."
Cheong - "OK, you have to pay me RM50 for bodek (ego massage)."
Baki - "S***! KL rate cheaper!"
Everybody - "hahahahahaha XD"

OK. After that. Saban a.k.a. Ben, Zenny, Ashraf, and Azizi performed! It was cool, but I didn't get to watch it. Had to "usher" the school representatives, for the award ceremony. So yeah. Then, clean up. Was interesting actually. Then loaded stuff into Lion Simon's Alfa Romeo! Ahahaha. Nice car la. Doesn't even have a logo, only a sticker on the windshield. Lol.

Yea, that was it. Stuff brought home. DIGI R.A.P. Shirt (oh yeah, was wearing XS! Yea, XS!!! Like lol). DIGI bottle! Lol. Handful of Gardenia Bread. Muesli Bars. Yeah. There was a RM50, but it went to the club so yeah. I don't mind. The experience was worth it, man. Kinda miss it. /= Never mind. Yea, thank God, I didn't mess anything up. (=
