Point of Difference

Haha... Yeah, it's the week-end of all. Good Friday => Easter, Jesus died, upon that tree, upon Calvary, and rose again. But what for. For the sins of the world... a world so ravaged by sin, it needs the Light once again.

Here's a song. It's not really related to the Resurrection nor the Crucifixion, but it's about God. And I believe it speaks of what the world needs. And I believe it comes from what the world will never take from us, Jesus our God.

Hillsong United - Point of Difference
Words & Music by Joel Houston

VERSE 1:
The tide is turning
This is redemption’s hour
In the midst of a world lost for love
You are all we have now
The lost returning
Salvation is all around
In the midst of a world broken down
You are all we have now
You are God
And this hope is ours
So Father

CHORUS:
Open the skies
Flood the earth with Your light
This is love to break a world indifferent
As we lift up our eyes
Fill our hearts with Your fire
In a world the same
We’ll be the different
The difference

VERSE 2:
Our hearts are burning
A fire that won’t burn out
In the midst of a world that’s grown cold
You are all we have now
The earth resounding
The anthem of Your renown
As we lift up our eyes
And look to Your glory

PRE CHORUS:
Call us out
Let the world see You are God
And this hope is ours
Call us out
Let the world see You are God
As we sing

BRIDGE:
Our eyes are open
Every chain now broken
We’re in this world but we are different
Let Your love become us
As we live to make You famous
We’re in this world but we are different

Call us out let the world see You are God
And one and only in this world
You are all we have now

It's all You are, it's all I want

It's all for You, I'm letting go

You'll never let me go

In the hope of Your freedom

Inspirasi?

Hmmm.
In the dark
In the darkness you will find
Dirty little secrets we all hide
Cause we all have a darker side
A place we keep where no one else will find
[Some where later in the song]
We all try to hide our secrets awayyyy.
Yeah, beg my secrets out of me. Lol. No more dirty little secrets for me though. Just a bunch of normal kind of secrets. Though getting my confidant's name and address would be extremely difficult for everyone except (=. Yeah. 'Cause the confidants don't know that they're confidants. Ooo.

What's the big deal about secrets anyway. Well, some just can be used to break down a person to pieces. I've seen these things happen. Well, people. There are always secrets that, "if I told you, I'd have to kill (figure of speech) you". Make sure those ones don't leak out to the wrong people.

Dignity. In the name of Jesus Christ. Equivalent to perfection of Christ. Would you even think of such a goal? It's possible you know. And you need to be very close to God, to the point where His presence is always with you. To the point You'd skip anything readily for His sake. Don't try. Do. So all those uzur philosophers like to say. Anyway.
And now you face the face of everything that breaks you dow-wnnnn.
And what shall you do? 'Cause when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. What. True wert. Yeah, Lion King are smerter than you.

Join with others in following my example, brothers, and take note of those who live according to the pattern we gave you. - Ph 3:17
That was Paul in letter to the Philippians. Follow. Haha. I got that out of thin air by the way. Then I went to Bible Gateway it. Tadaaaa.

One song. Switchfoot. Learning to Breathe. Good song la.

Verse
Hello, good morning, how You do?
What makes Your rising sun so new?
I could use a fresh beginning too
All of my regrets are nothing new
So this is the way that I say I need You
This is the way that I'm

Chorus
Learning to breathe
I'm learning to crawl
I'm finding that You and You alone can break my fall
I'm living again, awake and alive
I'm dying to breathe in these abundant skies

Verse 2
Hello, good morning, how You been?
Yesterday left my head kicked in
I never, never thought that
I would fall like that
Never knew that I could hurt this bad

Refrain
So this is the way I say I need You
This is the way that I say I love You
This is the way that I say I'm Yours

Over. Out. God bless.

Where Do We Belong?

Hillsong Live - Where We Belong
Words & Music by: Joel Davies & Reuben Morgan
Lead Vocals: Joel Davies & Reuben Morgan

Verse 1
There is no height or depth
Neither life nor death
That can take me from all that I find
Here now in Your glory Lord

Verse 2
No other powers or love
The things of now or to come
There's nothing on earth in this life
That could ever separate us Lord

Pre-Chorus
Your love is never ending
To Your hands we surrender
Where all our sins are washed away
Your grace beyond reason
Has paid for our freedom
We're made alive in You

Chorus
We run to Your throne
Where we belong
Every heart will sing
That Jesus is lord

Casting all else aside
For the joy of our Christ
Let Your glory fall
Our hearts are filled with Your fire
Think about it. When was the last time you left the world to it's own, and entered a time of praising the wonderful name of the Lord, meditating on the Bible, or even prayer?

How about worship? I'm quite surprised to find the secular definition of worship, according to Wiktionary matches what we should do:

worship (uncountable)

1. The devotion accorded to a deity or to a sacred object

What is devotion, then? Devotion is dedication. So, how can we accord our dedication to God?

Do you live a “peculiar” Chrisitan life, a life that calls attention to Christ alone? Is your life so distinct and remarkable that others look at you and see Christ himself reflected? Or have you allowed yourself to be worn down by consumerism, empty religiousity, and everyday routine?
I think I shall stop here, as I see no purpose going further.

Tomorrow is National Day. I only have one question. When was the last time you honoured your country, people? When was the last time you actually sang along to the national anthem, the last time you really stood straight, the last time you attended a National Day celebration? As you live in this country, even though you don't like the ruling government, remember, we are born into this nation for a purpose.

Jeremiah 29:7 - Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper (NIV)
I forgot who quoted this bible verse, I think it was my pastor. This is the response of the Lord to those, to pray for Babylon, even though Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon was the one who looted them (0r something). So, shouldn't we seek the peace and prosperity of the city, which the Lord has sent us to by sheer non-coincidence?

Did You Feel the Mountains Tremble

PMR Trials are coming up. I've started my studying, at last. Now, I know, that zinc carbonate + heat -> zinc oxide + carbon dioxide. Haha. Got some flipping new revision books, since I have such a lousy Science teacher at school, who can't decide which language to teach in.

I'm not liking my chances in the Trials, though, and still undecided whether to expect an easy year thanks to election results, or a difficult one for the same reason. But I definitely won't be hedging my bets, 'cause I'm going all out for straight As.

On a side note, TNT and robotics state level competition both happened together on the previous Wednesday. For TNT, 19 persons responded to the call. I'll be praying for them not to fall off the track. On the performance side, though, I did quite badly on projection. Other than that, the cable (no pun intended) was extremely loose, and gave a greenish input to the projector. Cheap thing. Besides all of those, I wouldn't really know, because I was sitting on stage most of the time. The message, I have heard before, but it IS refreshing to hear it again.

The other side, which is robotics, well, Anderson swept up the top 2 spots. First and second place, baby! I've been working my butt off for it, and was supposed to go for the competition. But I decided to work on TNT, since i felt my work was done in the robotics thing. But I am going for the nationals, which will probably be all the way down to Johor.

Ha, back to miracles in my life. Finally got around to studying seriously, and it hasn't been too difficult yet. Then, there ARE some things that I... just shouldn't mention. Got really tired out thanks to robotics, church music practice, TNT, and potbless all happening around the same time. Stayed out about 10 hours a day, fully working most of the time. But, I felt something, like I was running on energy that I didn't have. It was kinda funny, since I was tired, but didn't feel it. I obviously attribute it to God, for He is my strength.

This song is written by Reuben Morgan, from Hillsong. The lyrics really helped me reinforce what I have learned throughout the years.

You Are My Strength

VERSE 1:
You are my strength
Strength like no other
Strength like no other
Reaches to me

VERSE 2:
You are my hope
Hope like no other
Hope like no other
Reaches to me

CHORUS:
In the fullness of Your grace
In the power of Your Name
You lift me up
You lift me up

VERSE 3:
Unfailing love
Stronger than mountains
Deeper than oceans
Reaches to me

BRIDGE:
Your love O Lord
Reaches to the heavens
Your faithfulness
Reaches to the skies

For His love is greater than all other, and it has been proven, time and time again, that we can put our full trust in Him. For in our weakness, He is our strength.

Hillsong - This Is Our God (2008)

Ah, after the long wait, Hillsong releases a new album. But, this time, there would be some changes, as Darlene Zschech steps down as Worship pastor, and Reuben Morgan takes her place. Mike Guglielmucci, a worship leader, formerly from Planetshakers, steps up as a worship leader.

The album contains great performances and songs, which will stand the test of time. A prime example is, simply, the song "You are Here (The Same Power", which is just a simple chorus, albeit a powerful one. The opening 2, Your Name High and Run, are energetic crowd-pumpers, with brilliant technical aspects built in, along with Hillsong's trademark lyrics. Songs like "This Is Our God" and "Stronger, are bound to impact the way we worship for the next few years, to say the least.

On the technical side, been loving the guitar solos very much =). I think they threw in a few songs in C# Major... Ouch. B-key songs are feel easy now. This time, sadly, no piano songs.

Last, but definitely not the least of these, lyrics. The lyrics, as far as I can pick out (which is quite alot) are powerful, great, awesome, inspiring.

I'd say that would be all for today, time is always working against me. Out.

Happy birthday, Nicky!

Ah, Nick's birthday party. Great. What happened exactly? Well, they kidnapped him from church. Can't get you the exact details, no proper source yet. Best one so far is Nicky's blog. It's incomplete, though. It failed halfway though. But the party was great... And some people still don't know that Tracy can play the guitar. Ouch.

OK, let's chuck the party aside. It has been a tiring week, lack of sleep + load of work = tiredness. The "torment" ended Friday night. Basically, lost about 3-6 hours of sleep, then was helping with preparations for Nick's birthday, and also trying to stay awake in class. Wednesday just HAD to be the day that all of my teachers would come in to teach, and I HAD to be sleepy and unfocused. Agh.

Just got Hillsong's new album, "This is Our God" from my cousin. Will be posting up the review soon. So far, all I'll say, it's great.

Let's sum everything up. It's Sunday, and I'm still tired. But, But, tomorrow is a holiday! What big fat coincidence (read as usual: God's will).

Okay, let's look at some inspirational lyrics today, since I got 2 psalms for devotion.

Psalm 23

A psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.
2 He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams.
3 He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.
4 Even when I walk through the darkest valley,[a] I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.
5 You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.
6 Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.

Footnotes:

  1. Psalm 23:4 Or the dark valley of death.
Psalm 24
A psalm of David.
1 The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.
2 For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths.

3 Who may climb the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place?
4 Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies.
5 They will receive the Lord’s blessing and have a right relationship with God their savior.
6 Such people may seek you and worship in your presence, O God of Jacob.
Interlude

7 Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter.
8 Who is the King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty; the Lord, invincible in battle.
9 Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter.
10 Who is the King of glory? The Lord of Heaven’s Armies—he is the King of glory.
Interlude
Psalms 23 is such a popular, "common" psalm. But, time and time again, we must always re-read whatever we read. I don't really have any revelations through this one, although it is comforting for it to come at such an opportune moment of tiredness.

Psalm 24, on the other hand, reflects slightly one of the lessons ingrained in my head.

"When a psalmist repeats a line over and over, he's trying to put emphasis. Just like how we, nowadays, bold the important details, or underline them."
The key line repeated here, is verse 7 & 9, the key phrase repeated here is the title given to our God, the "King of Glory". It seems, that this portion of the psalm was written in celebration of the Ark of the Covenant returning to the temple in Jerusalem. This means, to me, yet another call to open up our hearts to God and let Him enter. For He is our portion, and He is the difference within us and the world.

The second portion of Psalm 24, strikes me the most. For it calls us to have pure hands and hearts, not to worship idols and tell lies. I don't think I need to say much about this.

The first portion, though, is a reminder that God owns all the cookies. And everything else.

... The Scourge

Let's see... Watched and listened to the song "Healer", sung by Mike Guglielmucci. It is a powerful song. You can catch the vids on youtube, better yet watch the song story. Mike moved to Sydney to be closer to a specialist hospital. He's going through cancer, and requires an oxygen tank that "plugs" oxygen into his nostrils.

It is a powerful song, even just the chorus.
I believe You're my Healer
I believe You are all I need
I believe You're my Portion
I believe You're more than enough for me
Jesus You're all I need
Been going over the chords to adjust key, since it's a bit low for generally everyone. Works fine now =).

Next, Monday was... rather "as usual". But stayed back for robotics, did nonsense there. My "friend" brought his laptop. There was X on it. My friend went and hid it all. God is always good. Tuition, got annoying fat people as usual, although I don't think you'll know what I mean.

Tuesday, uneventful day at school. Other than my friend misstepping into the drain, and poking himself on a nail... Should've taken his tetanus jab by now. After school, Shas SMSed, because he wanted to go do stuff. But I forgot to take my phone to my room, so he questioned me online. In the end, went to watch Hancock while waiting for his car to be washed, and went to buy artblock for the MC blur queen. Did some other stuff too, will release details soon enough. Now, I'm blogging, because a bunch of my friends have run out of credit.

Broken

Having been quite emotional lately, I turn to God for inspiration and solace. Disappointment after disappointment, my anger actually let itself out once. Luckily, it did not result in violence or harsh words. When, why, who, I won't say. I feel bad for that action, but when I look to God, he tells me, "stop feeling bad, learn your lesson from it and move on." I really feel that songs can speak to you, and so happened that I was listening to Lifehouse (a secular-Christian band), looking for a song that kinda attached to me. The lyrics really meant a lot to me, even when I first listened to it. The song talks about a brokenness, probably from a relationship. But to me, it talks about spilling out to the one you love, who, to me, is God. Here are the lyrics:

The Broken clock is a comfort
It helps me sleep tonight
Maybe it can stop tomorrow
From stealing all my time
And I am here still waiting
Though I still have my doubts
I am damaged at best
Like you've already figured out

Chorus:
I'm falling apart
I'm barely breathing
With a broken heart
That's still beating
In the pain
There is healing
In your name
I find meaning
So I'm holding on (I'm holdin on)(I'm holdin on)
I'm barely holding on to you

The broken locks were a warning
You got inside my head
I tried my best to be guarded
I'm an open book instead
And I still see your reflection
Inside of my eyes
That are looking for purpose
They're still looking for life

I'm hanging on another day
Just to see what, you will throw my way
And I'm hanging on, to the words you say
You said that I will, will be okay
The broken light on the freeway
Left me here alone
I may have lost my way now
But I haven't forgotten my way home

Don't really feel like looking up a Bible reference, even though my bible is right in front of me. Ah, never mind. Just remember, when you're down, look up to God. When you're broken, look up to God also. When you got no where else to go, look up to God lah.

Broken

Having been quite emotional lately, I turn to God for inspiration and solace. Disappointment after disappointment, my anger actually let itself out once. Luckily, it did not result in violence or harsh words. When, why, who, I won't say. I feel bad for that action, but when I look to God, he tells me, "stop feeling bad, learn your lesson from it and move on." I really feel that songs can speak to you, and so happened that I was listening to Lifehouse (a secular-Christian band), looking for a song that kinda attached to me. The lyrics really meant a lot to me, even when I first listened to it. The song talks about a brokenness, probably from a relationship. But to me, it talks about spilling out to the one you love, who, to me, is God. Here are the lyrics:

The Broken clock is a comfort
It helps me sleep tonight
Maybe it can stop tomorrow
From stealing all my time
And I am here still waiting
Though I still have my doubts
I am damaged at best
Like you've already figured out

Chorus:
I'm falling apart
I'm barely breathing
With a broken heart
That's still beating
In the pain
There is healing
In your name
I find meaning
So I'm holding on (I'm holdin on)(I'm holdin on)
I'm barely holding on to you

The broken locks were a warning
You got inside my head
I tried my best to be guarded
I'm an open book instead
And I still see your reflection
Inside of my eyes
That are looking for purpose
They're still looking for life

I'm hanging on another day
Just to see what, you will throw my way
And I'm hanging on, to the words you say
You said that I will, will be okay
The broken light on the freeway
Left me here alone
I may have lost my way now
But I haven't forgotten my way home
