How to Park #101

After a friend's birthday party one fine Saturday night, a group of us decided to head out for bubble tea. We went to the recently-opened Chatime in Greentown (it's opposite MP, behind DiGi Centre if you didn't know!).

The catch was, the place was full to the brim. And it was already past 10.00pm ! Talk about popular. I chose pearl milk tea and got my friend to order it for me (line was long too).

When I sipped the drink, it was sour. Turns out the variant I ordered was sold out, and the staff recommended this Sour Plum tea. Which my friends conveniently forgot to tell me. Oh, great.

Me, Ivan and Saw headed out to the Dataran food area nearby for supper with some dudes. After that, me and Ivan saw this crazy scenario. A guy parked about 3 inches away from another car. IT'S SIMPLY RIDICULOUS and I immediately decided to take pictures.

Ivan with his shiny white fedora!

Like dude are you serious?

Oh well. It was hilarious while it lasted

Me and Ivan had a good laugh. And oh well, we headed back home! (Hey if you ever spot the same car, do give him a holler on my behalf! And a tremendously cynical snicker while cracking a joke about his amazing parking skills)

Around the World (Part 1)

Here's one to all the bloggers in my sidebar. As they are it's like a Yellow Pages list, mere names and addresses that carry no meaning. Tonight I'll try to tell you their story; the song within the blog. Most of them have a specific niche, maybe you'll find one that appeals to you!
The Shadow Gamer - Ho Xing-Yi
Here's an award-winning blog to start off with! The name is Ho Xing-Yi, and he blogs mostly about video games, technology, news in the mentioned fields and all sorts of happenings. There are also photo walks and other events stuff cropping up after his BRATs experience and all. I need not say much - just check it out!

Jason Mumbles - Jason Lioh
Oh, how much do you know about Malaysia's blogging scene? Here's one of the big ones - Jason Mumbles! It's technically his personal blog, but there's plenty of stuff on it; mostly renowned for food, also including product reviews, outings (including one of his loops, blogger outings) - most notably he posts movie OSTs which you can then download. Great stuff, great PHOTOs to boot.
Her Effervescence - Amanda Ng
How do we go about this - there isn't any way to pigeonhole this blog - it's just a well-written blog on everything 'bout life. A perfect example (an overachieving one by any means of measure) of quality penmanship. You might be interested note that this is one ASEAN scholar - accepted for one of South East Asia's most prestigious awards for students at the O-level equivalents.
I scrapped a few because I'm behind schedule on this update, and lacking any steam to push through on this. Nevertheless, expect more from the next update. It'll continue with additional websites that I read often and all. Make whatever you want of it! Till then.

Verbal Revamp

If you've noticed, or have not, the blog has undergone quite a few cosmetic changes. Although they're minor, they give the blog a better feel, IMO.
  • There's a Twitter button, not gonna bother with a Facebook button as well, you can just do a simple search, there are not that many Abel Chi's in the world.
  • Then there's this new link especially for BRATs, which'll access the BRATs tag and load the posts related to the camp. The awesome camp, I might say.
  • Also, there's a page view counter in the bottom left most corner of the page. Scroll down to see it. Just started a few days ago so take heart of the low number, and visit my blog more often. Yay!
There's also been a tweak in the page width which displays wider, and text size has been boosted to match. And yeah I think that's about it.

BRATs Camp (For No Reason) - Part 5 of 5

Here's part of the entire draft I cooked up while blogging up my BRATs experience. The precedent texts are edited and posted in the BRATs series all in the June archive of the blog, with pictures! This one hasn't a thousand words to tell (nor could they be captured with photos) so yeah! It's just bonus stuff anyways, here we go.

---

Oh, did I mention the prank calls? Haha. Marcuse and Xing Yi, they tried to prank me and Joash on the first night you know! Joash was fast asleep (he is a REALLY heavy sleeper!) so I cancelled the call on his phone. I got slightly panicked about the phone ringing and possibly waking Joash thing and all. Little I know that was the least of my worries.

Okay so they called me later, with the same number. It kinda gave the game away lah. They claimed I was a witness to some murder... -.- Marcuse the eavesdropper claims the prank call was hilarious on the premise of me responding to all accusations and evidences of murder as "cool". It went something like this:

Xing Yi: Did you know that s Mr. Lim (I'm not sure what random name they used) was murdered?
Abel: Cool.
Xing Yi: And you're apparently a witness to the murder. So you have to fly back to Ipoh by tonight.
Abel: Oh... cool.

and so on.

On the second night of Camp, Xing Yi and Marcus(e) dropped by to "visit" me and Joash. Haha. They wanted to prank some fellow BRATs so they "harvested" numbers from my phone to prank. Next they tried calling up some people but a couple of them were sleeping. They managed to get through to Ee Laine and pranked her with some random crap. (edit: I remember now. It's about spotting her planking and asking her to help spread the art of planking. And stuff like that)

Xing Yi dropped his organisation name as the "Singapore Planking Association" and the rest of us in the room burst out in laughter!!! He claims we broke his cover but yeah. That was the most absurd thing we heard all camp, I'm pretty sure. Worst prank call ever xD

THeir third night prank was the funniest and dumbest, they basically got pranked back as far as I'm concerned. Haha! I have most of it on record, so maybe I'll make a subbed video of it soon... or not so soon!

They were asking for some random name - Larry, and Amy took it up and started acting as "Larry"! (Larry: I'm at the end of the rainbow, and just wanted to tell you that there's no pot of gold here) Haha then there was this Spanish girl, Maria Gonzalez.. (Maria: I think your voice is so sexy Señor),  Awesome stuff. Ben Jie also did some pretty hilarious stuff, his recording's real clear! Probably'll post it first. If I ever post it. Haha.

On the final day.. We had to touch up the assignments we were working on... Watched all of 'em.. and said our goodbyes! With plenty of photos going round.. Well they're all over Facebook somewhere, you can check out my album by clicking right here!

Scholarship Statement

I applied for an internal scholarship from my school recently - the form required a personal statement approximating 200 words. It's really too short to make anything out of it - I wrote it by hand and maxed out the provided space even! But here goes; do note the brief and rushed nature of it all. Enjoy. Or maybe not

My name is Abel, and the focus of these very brief lines will be to quickly detail the stories of my life that do not translate into paper and certificates.
In my heart I am many things - outstanding among them a keen communicator. I've learned it the hard way through life that the people around us often have a extremely vast collective experience.
It is also notable that tapping such a reservoir is slow and cunning work, and requires more than persistence. This tiny realisation has changed the way I perceive people, and also the way I talk with them.
This education I receive is but a complement to my lessons outside the classroom and this I know that my formal education will mold my future. When such an opportunity to surround myself with such a curious and social environment is offered, I shan't let it pass me by.
I can give you an endless list of reasons telling you why I feel I am deserving of this scholarship, but I don't believe it will win it for me. But I know if I stand up and perform to the expectations of the scholarship it will mean something - not to anybody but myself.

Highlights

Just was struck by some thoughts of a great blog I follow - it's extremely pertinent to the weekly struggles of the average worship team member. I don't normally post up stuff about my faith, but here's to great writing, great spirituality and great humbleness.

Oh the main site is http://www.guitarforworship.com

Saturday Night Live & Worship Leading "I remember being at a conference one time where Chris Tomlin was leading worship, and after a quite rousing worship song, said, ‘Hey guys, I just want you to know that it’s not like this at my home church. I don’t usually lead worship for 4,000 worship leaders who paid to come to a conference. It’s so awesome to look out and see everyone singing and worshiping.’"

Leading Worship "All this can be summed up with simply this: lead by example. I think sometimes we’re so busy trying to lead people, that we don’t have time to even be the Christ-like example to which we’re trying to lead them."

You Are Not Above Practicing "Most of us would like to think we’re that guy; the guy who can improvise perfectly, on the spot, something that shocks producers, floors the artists, and fits perfectly with the flow, style, and feel of a song we’ve never heard before."

And one more, a satire of the role of the worship leader! Really down to earth and instantly identifiable.

Worship Leading Choose Your Own Ending (Part 1 out of 4)

"You’re on stage. Fingers deftly sliding down from the 17th fret as you end the big, driving anti-solo ..."

Things At Tenby - Part 2

I have to say, there's not much to describe - just let your imagination do the talking!

This is the "HTC Sensation gang" so to speak, looking to be fast friends, both using high tech phones with penchants for high tech to match. They're also great buddies! (And our Business Studies teacher in the background making a call)

The said Business Teacher's laptop login screen ! "You won't like me when I'm angry"

Things At Tenby - Part 1

I've been in this school with many amazing friends for 4 months now - can safely say this a very zesty community I've been placed in :)

Well, now I'm gonna unload some pictures that I've accumulated along my days spent with these crazy people. Heh.

A drawing of something which nobody will ever recognise. Multiple artists contributed to this - one of them drew the ridiculously-placed tongue and teeth!

Mua friend sleeps with his shoes off - HAHA!

If you dropped by looking for a story I'd ask you to hold your horses! They're coming soon :)

Next Stop, Brooklyn

I know this blog seems a bit dead now, so I'll offer you five fleeting footnotes of my life. So happens all pertain to things my friends do. I have crazy friends. As you read this post (and more in the series to come), do know that you've had fair warning!
  • My friend banged in to a car. He was on foot. HAHA
  • Oh oh oh there was this cuuuute dog my friend owns. It's all white, and shaggy a bit.
  • Another friend was lying around in the grass listening to his emo songs. Along came a teacher to "jenguk" him and question him why on earth was he doing so. Nuts or not, you tell me?
  • A couple of my friends (brothers) are planning a drive trip all the way to Penang for lunch after school on a beautiful Friday. Can't wait for the moment :)
  • This friend just sent me a very cool indie song - I like it when people filter out the best of the best (esp. non-mainstream/radio stuff) songs for me :D

Ipoh - Brotherhood

Well the day was a day of "celebration" so to speak. A good friend of mine has finally touched down @ Ipoh after his NS stint. He's looking fitter and better now, dropped about 10 kilos in 3 months? Haha. Joshua Yau welcome home! (There are SO many Joshuas, am I right lol)

Top notch Ipoh dim sum.
We went to the famous Ming Court for breakfast. The organiser of sorts, a Mr. Carl Cheong was unfashionably late though. Haha. Well at least I enjoyed my dim sum! Come to think of it it's my first since Chinese New Year with my cousins and all. Haha. That was also the time where I got my first parking ticket.. But well there's not much of a story to tell!

Then dropped by Joshua's house to see his dogggg :D and pick up some games haha. His doggie was shooo cute! It's a young Golden Retriever, still quite a puppy. I actually took a pic. Or two. Oh well. Haha!

Cute little puppy dog!
When we visited it's teeth had just grown out, so it was biting everything it could get it's paws on. Like me. Er. Yes. And my other friend. Oh well, it was so so friendly and cuuuute :) AND AND also right. It had some sort of magnetic attraction to our slippers, it was like someone stuck the label "bite me" all over them!

We propped them on top of his cage where he "couldn't" reach, but managed to chew at my friend's sandal which was at the edge of the cage. Kawaii-ness unlimited, no? XD

Extra large just for you. Because I can.
And yes he needed the leash. If not he would bug us on our way out. All the way, on our way. Out. I believe you get my point. Haha. We shot straight for Ye Olde English, but it was closed, only opens for dinner. So the guys plotted to go for Station One . Well oh well. Should've hit Aberdeen instead, it's much better I tell youh.

We lepak-ed there from lunchtime till 3.00pm ++ ! Not bad right. Played Choh Dai Di (as copied from Wikipedia) for quite a number of rounds, then went back. Dropped Lee Eu Meng, Joon Yang, Alex Leh and Ho Ming Foong back. Only Lee told me in advance, so they kinda messed up my plans to go get some Maggi Goreng for teatime at home. RAWRRR well at least I'll be a tad more healthier. Heh. That's about it.

Kuala Lumpur - A Journey

And yes the chain of events. Reached KL on Friday afternoon - met Serene there. She just came from her visa interview, dressed all formal all!

We were waiting for Stephen since his bus was from Singapore, and decided to get a drink from the awesome vending machines around Sentral. Sadly, most of them were spoilt! So we went hunting for a working machine - finally found one outside. Haha.

We went for some nasi lemak (it was really good) with Aren, an old friend of my cousin's. He fetched us from Sentral to dinner and to our home for the weekend! Check out the cuuute doggie if you haven't (there's another cute doggie coming up from my friend's house - stay posted :D) And then there was Urbanscapes.

Urbanscapes - the picture says it all! RM0.00 - Complimentary!
Somehow I won Urbanscapes passes which would be on the same day as the Liverpool match, almost same time! Considered skipping the match - but in the end my friend who'd accompany me for Urbanscapes had to leave early so ended up hitting both! Yayy haha. If you can't read pictures or something funny, Urbanscapes is an all-day creative arts festival. It's pretty chill.

Here's the wrist band I was given - orange is for 18 and up!
Met up with Xing-Yi and his friend, Aaron. We proceeded to round the place. There were many things to see, from the hot air balloon being started up, to guitar hero to an indie band "rocking" the stage. Haha. We had some random stuff too, with some "tasks" to be done. Hug or hi-five 5 random people. And all I got was this CD.

Lady Gaga.. No, it's Christina Aguilera!
Yeah. That's about it. There was one ultra-cool demonstration by some experimental duo. It was a water container set up, with 16 partitions separated by plastic walls. The top is open, and there are "crystal balls" at each corner. It conducts electricity from the balls to the water partitions, and these trigger off the synth :) once I figure out this newfangled video editing program I'll post it up for all to see :D till then Here's the video! You gotta check this out, the most eye-catching thing we walked past in the whole Urbanscapes. :D

Kuala Lumpur - Passion

Okay, so I did head down to KL for the Liverpool match! Although I am an Arsenal supporter, you can't really turn down a free ticket can you? Haha. It was the weekend some more, great offer.

After Urbanscapes at Asia Jaya, I shot straight down to the Masjid Jamek interchange to the Sentul line which leads to Stadium Bukit Jalil. My cousins joined along at Taman Jaya as they were waiting for me at the mall over there.

The queue for interchange tickets..
Well, when we arrived there, we saw this huge huge crowd. It doesn't really look as massive as the real thing, but there's a picture of it. Massive, everyone was jammed up there. Thank God we met Sandra there, she was further in front and got our tickets. Since we had the time we went to get our return from here to Kelana Jaya area so that we wouldn't get stuck in another queue on the way back.

Well to cut the long story short, we made it! Although a fumble or two happened along the way (cellphone signal at the Stadium was horrid - 30-40 calls were dropped before we managed to make contact!), we  managed to enter the stadium at least! I really liked my seat :)

My view.. This is a very accurate approximation of my field of vision there.

I sat in a very good seat, with some sort of semblance to the TV view that I actually enjoy quite a lot.Could see the left-right play and movement was very obvious.

The match finished 6-3 - quite entertaining, and the goals were be-au-tiful! Oh the first Malaysian goal was one spectacular free kick, swerving wickedly out of the keeper's grasp. Brilliant! Malaysia managed to catch out Liverpool on pace on more than one occasion in the second half, something quite interesting as Liverpool weren't able to do the same to the steely Malaysian defence.

Although this defence shipped 2 free goals to David N'gog who happily took them and barely touched the ball other than those two goals. He was running in the full back zones, weirdly enough. Isn't the furthest player forward supposed to hang around the central areas?

Here's another panorama shot - quite nice to see a full stadium!

Full view of everything! What a glorious stadium to play in :)
After the match, the LRT human jam was INSANE!!! People were packed together like sardines, and it was kinda tense. But some dudes managed to crack some lame jokes, like "ini sardin ke tuna sekarang?" and "tepi, tepi, air panas!" "tepi, tepi ada orang pengsan! Ada orang nak bersalin! Ada orang sudah mati!" and all. Haha.

After we managed to squeeze through and get on the train, rode all the way to Masjid Jamek. The jam here wasn't so bad, as most of the traffic was still stuck at the Bukit Jalil LRT. But there was a sizeable queue at the ticketing counter, so we were lucky enough to grab our tickets on the way here instead of leaving it till now.

We headed to KL Sentral instead for our friend to pick us up. We then sent Stephen to KLIA for his return flight and shot straight for supper at Murni's SS2. Hit up a Roti Beckham, dedicated to Joses Khoo XD

Roti Beckham, dee-lee-cious!

Kuala Lumpur - Family

Hellohellohello. I haven't been here for almost a month, how about that! Been busy being on top of the world, enjoying life :)

(Oh a quick note - my video editing software is down - There's a really interesting video I need to edit before I publish it in the full post, so be patient aite! Here's a short pre.)

This post is mainly about this KL trip I made last weekend - for a bunch of different reasons! The original purpose was to capitalise on my free Liverpool ticket that my friend passed to me.. It'd mean I'd meet up with my cousins, Serene and Stephen. Don't really meet up with them as often as I should!

My aunt's dog. Sho cute right? It's a Golden Retriever crossed with a Rottweiler. Elegant!
Okay, aside from the cute dog. Stayed with my "aunt" of sorts. It's on my cousin's side who's not related to me. But she was really nice to me nevertheless :D She has 5 dogs in the house, 3 Shih-Tzus and 2 mix breeds. And if you didn't know the babysitter I grew up with, another aunt was married to a vet, so I do get along with dogs quite quickly!

The Journey

Wellhello! Here's some pictures I've collected over the past month.. With a story behind each! :)

This was at Ritz Bina, a top-shop no-frills dining outlet! Cat sleeping under the row of dishes. Actually a family of them. They were SHO cute!!!

Outside the Taj Mahal of Ipoh, our beloved train station.. Drove there to get tickets for my KL trip to get A-level photostat-books and visit BRATs peeps and crash Mr. Benjamin Tan!

At Ben's house, we encountered... mozzies! The freaking mosquitoes were partying-partying-yeah all over me and him on Friday night.. We gladly took revenge in the morning and doused them in aerosol! Huge fella, but see the spray left on the tile hahaha!

Okay, the next step requires a prequel. Last Saturday, I was working for Disney Malaysia through a friend's event company.. It's for this audition/competition called Disney My School Rocks, which is an inter-school dance competition! Perak level, and plenty of manpower involved. There were about 30+ people involved in the entire event's administration! Haha. Here we go.

At work, I was assigned the duty of a team guardian - handling the incoming teams and ushering them around, also rushing and bringing them to backstage for standby. The most stressful job I guess, since we're almost always on duty and can truly fail.. And cus I just need to let it out? I am number four! :D

Due to my work responsibilities, I was required to use a walkie-talkie. It was quite new and interesting, although you'll probably hurt your ears a bit given the noise the pack needs to overcome! But enjoyed it lah everything! :)

Brats Saga Still Continues (Part 4)

The 2nd assignment on day 3 was to visit a local paddy field. The main significance is only that Kedah is bestowed the title "the rice bowl of Malaysia". It wasn't too bad lah there, One of the family members told a story about this disease, called "Perang" (the colour). It sometimes happens that the young paddy stalks will get infected, they will then turn red. It'll be as good as dead paddy then...

Stolen off Senior Brat  Pau Ling a.k.a. Roxanne Low! Good blog!
The special thing about the 2nd assignment is we were gifted "buah tangan" by the farm owners as they have, as someone described, a mango "orchard" (it's only a couple of trees xD) beside the field. They were quite nice to eat actually! Haha. Firm, not too soft. They gave us plenty! About twenty to thirty mangoes you know. But they weren't ripe so most of us "ta pau"ed the fruits. Haha. Compare to the dodol they bought on Assignments 1 day 2! Freeeeeeee :D :D :D

At night we went to have Laksa Kedah for dinner! Well, I didn't have any cause I'm not a fan of laksa, so I had satay! But everyone had satay-lah so yeah. Haha. Satay was actually very nice. Laksa was plain cus we didn't go to the main one I guess.. The first-choice was sold out and had closed shop!

Joash took this picture! Thanks Joash :)
This the one with Joash in it :)

BRATs Saga Part 3 - W.H.A.T.?

Then after the first day... and night, we were facing assignments straight away. We went to Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad's childhood residence.. and all. :) Took photos - but we were wearing the BRATs t-shirt. No offense, but just that white is plain.. heh. That's why I have 2 orange shirts, man! And a pink shirt that's my absolute fave!! :D

Oh and a random picture! Cause the place was actually still closed when we came. Aren't we the earlybirds!

Spot the poser!
Haha. Moving on to more relevant points.. We were to do a soundslide.. Well let's talk about less technical stuff-lah! Doing assignments was... quite stressful. But it was great to finish them! Team W.H.A.T. the best! Really loved working with all you peeps. Haha. Team X bought back Dodol from their visit to the Dodol making centre or what ever term you use for that place. Haha.

Our... tour guide.

Here's a shoutout to - group leader Tan Ee Laine, video editor pro Yin Li (saved us a lot of progress a couple of times on the video job - priceless mann), guys Samuel Lee & Zhong Min, stand-upper Denielle, and Amanda, Chien Huey, Aisyah,  Samantha, SU Yi, Valerie, Natasha and Raanita. :) best group EVERRRRRR

Note: This is a scheduled release; I'm actually on my way to KL at the time is is posted! Haha

The BRATs Saga Part 2

Okay... First day was.. overwhelming! Thrust straight into the culture of the 'camp! I was quite surprised to see so little guys - at first impression lah. But after a while it was understood.. That guys just weren't interested to sign up for this awesome camp. Haha.

What we do on the first day, a set of briefings and some icebreakers to warm us up. Don't have pictures on this so yeah.

They had a bunch of workshops, only remember Photography by Jason Lioh and Social Media by Niki Cheong because those were the two I'll take heart to for life! Yeah. Got a great roommate - Joash! I sleep at least half an hour later than him - and it makes no difference to him! Yeah. Awesome stuff la. :)

Btw, the photography workshop required us to test our newly-learned knowledge hands-on! The theme was "green" and so yeah.. My entry was this.

Well, it received some commendations.. In part of being the top of the list 'cause of alphabetical order -.- heh. And well this group of BRATs gathered at Alor Setar were complimented for presenting a really consistent set of photos. Because, well.. the previous batches... Uh I shan't say haha! But. We still love ya even though you can't really take pichas alright :) lovelovelove :D

Btw the first morning after that, managed to catch a pretty neat picture of the Alor Setar skyline. Reposting this from twitter..

More to come.. And well I'll end this post on a random quote.

"Reach for the stars. And if you don't grab em, at least you're on top of the world" - Armando Christian Perez (better knows as Pitbull)

BRATs

Hey guys. If you've been a friend on facebook or following me on twitter, you'll definitely know that, I've been at BRATs Camp '11 at Alor Setar, Kedah! And this you probably won't know, that I was at Paradise Sandy Beach Resort (Hotel lah) the day before camp. More like a stopover holiday before heading to Alor Setar. Family went there, then parents dropped me and my sister off to BRATs!

P.S. this post'll be split up into smaller bits, released whenever I want to :D

This was in the... garden? Swimming pool. Absolutely beautiful place!

A random message... Heh.

An angle of the view from our balcony! It faces the beach but the space is huge!

(On a side note, my parents stayed the following night @ Alor Setar - they caught Kungfu Panda 2 without us kids!!! How could theyyyyyyy :O)

Edit: You can check out my sis's blog some time, it already has (Update #2!) the Penang food photos on it! Here's a taster - Penang Chee Cheong Fun - my mum's favourite, and must have, at Gurney Drive!

Update!

Edit: This post is brought to you courtesy of  uninvited guest blogger Adrian Yap. He is NOT INVITED to come back and post again. EVER

I am in the house of my best friend! His name is Adrian. I like his house. It is quite big. Big is nice. And I like nice. Everybody likes nice too. I think so too. Fluffy is so cute. I like cute. My phone no battery. Actually got battery, but battery no battery. I don't know how to explain, but I think you know what I think I am trying to say. My brain very tired, and exhausted. This post very hard to post. Headache. I think I want to sleep. But before I sleep, I must eat some supper. The last supper. For the day that is. Got that?

It is time to go. I say goodbye. Good bye.

Next Stop

Ah yes inspired by a certain compatriot blogger. I'm headed to... Not very far actually. Ipoh International School (Tenby A Level Centre, it's name proper) is the destination. Doing, A-levels (if it wasn't obvious enough). Cambridge syllabus. A twist of fate lands me there, rather than Form 6, rather than KTAR, rather than scholarship to random KL college.

Really expectant after 5 whole months off the books, surprising how true it is. Joses explains that the wait for Form 6 is exactly for this effect, to give students a "break" from studies and gear themselves for the next level of collegiate.

And I have a "part time job" so to speak, pays rather well, gives rather great hours! The way it reached me, it might as well have fallen out of the sky. God is really awesome, and to be frank it's through an old CF connection :) there you have it, the basics of blessing! To compound this point, the place I bunked over and also the dudes that bought my Switchfoot ticket are Christian relations too.. From the same school of Anderson, where great minds gather!

I'll sign off as there's work tmr! So glad for the income so be seeing ya!

Nothing Less

It's been a greattttt week! Went to Limau's house on Tues. He had a scholarship powerpoint presentation to be done with, so crashed to.... uh, contribute! I think haha. Well, actually I did! Then next day went day-tripping with Joses to KL, to see Lim for his interview and presentation @ Taylor's Lakeside!

We took the bus right to the train station first, then commuted to Midvalley, baby!!! Hit Carl Jr's the first thing, once we had that we were stuffed mann. Seriously. We were full till dinner, which was at eight.. That's serious stuff. Er, yeah. Stuff. ANDDDD we went shopping, more like window shopping cause we ended up not buying anything... yet! Haha. Then Jeremy & Ben came to pick us up, he was very late for class though, so yeah.

When we got there, we headed to "Student Central" where Lim was headed for his interview. And left soon after cus it was time. Managed to meet Carl again, dumb fella. Lol! Jeremy's class was cancelled so happened, and we left soon after. We went to a nearby mamak, which I went the last time I came over to KL. Nice place la! Haha. Joses cracked some dumb joke about the drinks, he asked the waiter, "Ini ada alkohol kah?" and dumbstruck him for a few seconds. LOL. Went back to their place after that.

Now comes the night when we went for dinner with my cousin and KC's friend, Nigel. Heh. Went to this "mamak" called Murni (Ben consistently vehemently says Murni is not a mamak - because it's owned by a chinese dude). Nice food, enjoyed it thoroughly!!

Then comes the crazy part. It was 8.45pm and train was in half an hour's time. We were still at the place, so it was a bit tense. They brushed off the plan of dropping us at the nearest LRT and dashed to KL Sentral. We made it with time to spare, but didn't manage to get the RM1 coke the Sentral =/ But at least laaa we reached on timeee. Great dayyyyy we headed back. Stopped @ Nasmir for supper, which was nice :)

The return tickets!
And yes. Makes me wonder what took me so long to blog this entire post. Haha!

News Repost - Another Religious Row Erupts in Malaysia

Scroll down if you wish to skip the long news article. At least read the "lead", the first paragraph for a summary of what's going down in this land.

Another Religious Row Erupts in Malaysia
Kula Lumpur. A fresh religious row erupted on Saturday after the Utusan Malaysia newspaper alleged that there was a plot to make Malaysia a Christian country, as a Muslim group Pembela accused “aggressive Christians” of threatening the position of Islam.

The Umno-owned Utusan daily quoted two blogs which alleged that Christian pastors who met in Penang last Thursday had taken a vow to make Christianity the official religion of Malaysia, and to make a Christian the prime minister. It also quoted the bloggers as saying that the meeting was organized by a division of the opposition Democratic Action Party (DAP) in Penang. The daily cited a blog by the name of Big Dog as saying that these were “very dangerous” developments as the DAP was accused of fuelling its political ambitions with a cry to change the country’s leadership from Muslim to Christian.

Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said these allegations were serious, and that he was awaiting a report about the Penang meeting. “If certain races resorted to raising issues in an excessive manner, it will invite reactions from other races,” he said. The Utusan report sparked an immediate uproar as opposition parties including opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim slammed the daily, while the event organizers denied the allegations. A police report was lodged by the pro-Malay group Perkasa’s Penang chief Mohd Rizuad Mohd Azudin who said this could “destroy racial unity.”

Relations between Malaysia’s Christians, who comprise about 10 percent of the population, and the majority Muslims have been on edge since their clash over the use of the word “Allah” to refer to God. Tensions briefly flared last year when a church was firebombed after the High Court allowed a Catholic publication to use “Allah.” The government’s appeal against this decision has yet to be heard. The issue cropped up again after 35,000 Malay-language Bibles were held up in two ports for the same reason. They have since been released.

The Muslim Organizations in Defence of Islam (Pembela), a loose grouping of several Muslim groups, on Saturday held a forum in which its president, Yusri Mohamed, said Islam was under siege in Malaysia. He said it would lodge a police report on the Utusan allegations. “We are dealing with aggressive, confrontational groups of Christians,” he was quoted as saying by a news Web site. He said their demands to use “Allah” were part of their attempts to spread Christianity.

Muslim convert Ann Wan Seng, from the Malaysian Chinese Muslim Association, also spoke at the forum where he was quoted as alleging that some Muslim university students were wearing crucifixes beneath their headscarves. Datuk Seri Anwar slammed Utusan for spreading lies that could create confusion among Malaysians.

“Utusan has gone way over the line, they have sacrificed their responsibility as media practitioners to bow before their masters,” he said in a statement. Anwar reiterated the opposition Pakatan Rakyat’s commitment towards upholding Islam as the official religion of the country. Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, who is also DAP secretary-general, said Utusan was trying to “set 1Malaysia on fire”, referring to Prime Minister Najib Razak’s 1Malaysia racial unity platform.

“It is the most evil and dangerous element in our country right now,” he said on Saturday, adding that the DAP will lodge a police report. The organizers of the Christian meeting — National Evangelical Christian Fellowship, Global Day of Prayer, Marketplace Penang and Penang Pastors Fellowship — denied that any such vow was taken by the pastors.

“The organizer vehemently denies such a claim as being unfounded and totally untrue, aimed at creating division and social disharmony in the multi-ethnic society of Malaysia, and appears to be seditious,” they said in a statement. - Straits Times Indonesia

What's wrong with the world today... This is a... life-changing thing to the part of me that says "Voting Decisions". For LIFE. I mean it...
But the Christian federation said it has been patient in trying to resolve religious disputes, claiming that its "good faith has not been reciprocated by the government.'' - AP. On the Indonesian (! it's a huuuge Muslim nation which is actually pretty beautiful) Bible case.
And from that article, you can take note that the case on the constitutional right for Christians to use the word Allah is still ongoing. Mann.

On a brighter note (I'm quite happy to end my day on such a... sad note though! Really thinking time tonight) - my all time favourite youtube video! Worth the watch. Comedyyyyyyy!

As I Am

Hey a crazy fantastic day today! Went all the way to Sitiawan with JJ for our NS Christian Class teacher's birthday celebration! His dad works near there, so I got to tag along. We called 3 other friends but all were working =/ babi lu, Joshi Loo! :P

Going there took a while because of traffic, but it was a nice ride, chatting and all. Halfway though, the air conditioning broke down! It was like, seriously warmmmm in there. Thank God there were only 2 of us, cus we fit nicely into the teacher's car, at 5 people in total.

But first things first. We went to his dad's workplace (obviously), which is the Lumut coal power plant, which was HUUUUUUGE! And I mean every single letter of it! Pics!

The conveyor belt.. All the way from the port to the coal plant!

Some... cool looking buildings!

A huge stack of COAL. There are a dozen of them. I guess I mean 24. I guess that's a huge amount of coal. My friend said it could last the year out.

Coal mounds and... cool buildings!

More cool buildings.

Then we caught up with our teacher! He took us to a car repair shop as our car's air conditioning was busted. We followed him around in his car. Visited his house, then went for LUNCH! :D Awesome, delicious. The funny thing is he footed the bill eventhough it's his birthday. Mann. Heh. Dropped by Teluk Batik for a look, then went to Marina Island for a jawdropping look! It's a man-made island, and the bridge leading to it is pretty spectacular.

Well, at the end of the day headed back. Teacher even gave us presents for HIS birthday! I think you should know why everybody loves him, he is really a generous, joyous soul :)

What Life Is

Hey all. I'm back from church camp, which was at Cameron Highlands! Awesome times up there - first day itself got myself a neat Arsenal jacket, and chapati! XD everything's good! Played some modern cardgames my cousin loaned out to us graciously, and spent time well there, definitely. (We went up on Friday!)

Second day was on for worship, so privileged to be! Preacher was charismatic, cool and confident, and certainly gave us points to ponder, and of course a smattering of jokes all over! Well, after Day 2 session, (Day 1 was more like R&R, the program proper begins on Day 2) we went for steamboat at a nearby restaurant. Served us plenty, and there was a LOT of noodles left over, I kid you not. We actually requested to take back the steamboat pot, and secured it XD. Back for another night of games and lepaking around, and later retired to my room.

We played till we- wait. No! But it was fun XD

Day 3 had another session, things happened. And well, after everything, had lunch at the same restaurant, but this time was Chinese style! Meaning that we ordered big plates of dishes and all. My family went back early and we stopped on the way for tea, caught some scones! Pretty good, better than the one my sis ordered at the mamak (like seriously! Don't ever do that, order scones at mamak), which was as hard as cement. She made a gigantic mess trying to cut pieces off =P. And it rained on the way back, so it misted up!

Something like this!

Oh, and back at Ipoh! Managed to catch Sam's surprise birthday party, though more by chance than by choice. Almost kidnapped Joshi Loo along but he had a dinner, so I was a bit bummed =/ But nevertheless, I went! Then accidentally bumped into Sam at the washroom (imagine the stunned look on my face when I saw him in the mirror) and had to spit some random story about friends being late and all. Haha. We stopped by Black Canyon with Fong, who was taking Sam, and pretended to have dinner. Or so to speak. Cake came later, rather than sooner. Hahah. Managed to catch the first half of the game, Arsenal won! :D

Then we went to watch "Just Go With It", had a blast of a night. So yeah. Pictures @ Judith's blog so I don't have to feel guilty, hehe :)

Life and All It Is

Hey there, my beautiful blog. Well to start off, spent most of my day (well, I slept in the whole morning! nuts) with JY, lunch-ing with 'im and Ian @ Parade. Saw Henry Ting there! What chance, lol. Wanted to visit a friend's mum, a couple of mix-ups meant we just dropped off the giftcard&chocs to him at his house, as she was already gonna be discharged when we wanted to go. But well, caught a DotA game with Joses at Joon Yang's house (LOL!) so it wasn't all too bad :)

On a side note, I am a very indecisive blogger. Heh. Here's a list of post (titles) and first lines that I never posted.

Yes now, there's this issue of bass guitar cravings. Well, have already set a personal goal - earn enough cash for a bass guitar by the end of 2012! :D I guess that's about it. That's all there is to it. Yeah. Yeah!
